This year is a little different for all of us and we all need a break sometimes; have a browse of our Devon holiday cottages summer availability and that’s something you could be looking forward to very soon. Just imagine, a week long holiday, a mid-week stay, or a weekend break in a country cottage deep in the Devon hills…

Beautiful fields as far as the eye can see

It’s lovely here at Stonehayes Farm, even if we say so ourselves. Our holiday cottages are light and airy, well equipped, and they’re family friendly and dog friendly. Each has it’s own garden area and use of a shared games room where you can play pool, table tennis or table football. There are also 15 acres of grounds to explore, with a play area and picnic area; stroll down across the fields to the River Luv, roll up your trouser legs and have a paddle. This is the kind of place where you can truly relax and unwind, where the pace of life slows down and everything seems to skip along quite happily. The feels are all good at Stonehayes Farm and that’s why people come back for holidays year after year – they love it here.

This year is different though, like we said. More people are hoping to go abroad again after two years of not being able to do so, there’s a lot of uncertainty over the future with rising food and energy prices and the fear of escalating war. But life is to be enjoyed and in a way it’s good to stay in your own little bubble and keep content; you have to do what feels good and a quiet holiday in the countryside definitely fits into that category. You can come here and lap up the tranquility, the gorgeous views and the birdsong; you’ll have happy days and restful nights, the chance to spend quality time together, to ease off and just be.

Spacious country kitchen for entertaining guests

Prices start from just £38.57 per person per night for a week in August at Pipits Retreat and Wagtail Corner which both sleep 5 guests. Dippers Rest sleeps 6 and is pretty much full for summer though we do have one 4 night break in July for less than £42 per night each. We can accommodate bigger groups too, so if you have a special birthday or some other family celebration coming up, take a look; maybe you’d like to spend a few days away catching up with friends and family – and why not? Whinchat Barns sleeps 11 and a 4 night stay in July will set you back the small sum of £32.61 per night each, or we have a short break in June for just over £28 per night each.

And have you seen Pippinsands, our big country cottage that sleeps 14? This was the original farmhouse back in the day and ooh, it’s Gorgeous with a capital G! Thick stone walls, exposed timbers, original floorboards and astonishing views across the valley. The icing on the cake is the hot tub in the private garden; sit back and watch cotton wool clouds drift by during the day, at night relax beneath a sky full of stars. A mid week stay will cost a few pennies over £30 each per night.

Those prices are very good. Think about it – no queues, no palaver at the airport, no other people jostling next to you invading your space, no dining in a big room full of strangers. Just peace and quiet, fresh country air and huge amounts of relaxation. If you want to stay put here at Stonehayes Farm for the whole of your stay, you’re more than welcome; if you want to see a bit of the local area you won’t be disappointed. Within a short drive there are some excellent family attractions – our favourites are The Donkey Sanctuary, Wildwood Escot and Bicton Park Botanical Gardens. There are good beaches too so a day by the sea is a strong possibility and it will only take you about 30 minutes to get there. Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Exmouth are the more popular spots, Branscombe and Beer are picturesque coastal villages, both with very good beach cafes.

If you want to go out to eat there’s no shortage of choice; the Pig at Combe is divine, set in an Elizabethan manor house, and we also recommend the Yellow Deli and JK’s Bistro in Honiton, Otter Valley Ice Cream & Field Kitchen for yep, amazing ice cream, and the Hare & Hounds for a fantastic carvery. On our website you’ll find plenty of inspiration on our Days Out page or Things To Do for each holiday cottage.

Don’t miss out this summer, come and spend time in delightful Devon; put your feet up, savour every moment of being on holiday with your favourite people and make extra special memories. Book a stay today!
