Cosy Cottages For Winter Breaks in the UK

Despite the doom and gloom we hear on the news every day, you mustn't let the winter blues get to you this year; these last few days the temperatures have dropped, it's clouded over and not surprisingly, people are thinking ahead to cosy cottages for winter breaks in the UK. It’s a lovey thing to do – a few days away with the love of your life, your family or a group of your favourite people. With gorgeous cottages for up to 14 guests, it’s all possible at Stonehayes Farm.

Delicious food in Devon

Take a look at our cosy cottages for winter breaks in the UK and you might well drift off into a little daydream… tucked away in the quiet of the Devon countryside, a big pot of homemade soup or a hearty casserole simmering on the top of the stove, the warm glow of the fireside, a mug of hot chocolate or a robust glass of red; outside the evening coming down as the first stars stud the sky, and a distinct chill in the air. But indoors you’re snug as bugs in your winter jumpers and your thick socks, and you’re all together and smiling. Time to relax, time to just be.

Let’s start big. Maybe you’ve got a significant date coming up, a big birthday, a milestone anniversary; maybe you’re welcoming your first grandchild to the world, you’ve just got engaged or you’re about to start a new job. That’s all good cause for celebration so round up your nearest and dearest and come and raise a glass at Pippinsands; this beautiful thatched cottage sleeps 14 and has a large private garden with a hot tub you can use anytime of year.

The other 4 cottages here at Stonehayes Farm sleep 4-6 guests but you can book as many as you like; this summer all our self catering accommodation was booked by a big happy wedding party and what an amazing time they had! For smaller groups and families, Pipits Retreat and Wagtail Corner both sleep 5, Dippers Rest sleeps 6, and lovely little Siskins Nook (which is actually still a good size) sleeps 4. All are family friendly and dog friendly, have wood-burners and well equipped kitchens; Siskins Nook and Dippers Rest have their own hot tubs. It's actually rather nice to slip into the warm waters in the colder months; have your robe handy to pop on when you get out, skip indoors and relax by the fire.

There are very good last minute offers on Pipits Retreat and Wagtail Corner, which both sleep 5, for early October. Treat yourselves, come and see the lush landscape here amidst our 15 acres of private land; spectacular autumn colours, glorious views that roll on for miles, and great things to see and do nearby. You can stay at Pipits Retreat, which sleeps 5, for 3 nights for less than £24 each per night each! We know, it’s crazy, isn’t it? But think; a few days away midweek with friends, a walking break in Devon – in case you didn't know, we’re in the Blackdown Hills AONB here and the South West Coast Path is only a short drive away.

Wagtail Corner sleeps 6 and an early October midweek break of 4 nights will cost you just under £22 each per night. The great thing with these offers is that the cottage is all yours and it’s so much better than a hotel. You can do what you want when you want, you don’t have to go down to breakfast with strangers - and where can you get a half decent hotel room for that price anyhow?! If that's got you thinking, get in quick because offers like that are too good to miss.

The thing is, you’re special, we all are, and we deserve to be happy whenever we can; the world is not a happy place lately, so the best thing to do is turn off the news, don’t buy a newspaper, and have a little world of your own with the people who mean the most to you. That’s exactly how it is at Stonehayes Farm, and even if you can’t stay forever, you can at least have a slice of it. Besides, you can come back whenever you want to, lots of our guests do that because this really is a good place to be.
