December is marching on and the festive feeling is high! Lights are twinkling, Christmas music is playing almost everywhere you go, and the shops are full of all kinds of tempting delights! Time for a well earned rest, so for now we just want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas from Stonehayes Farm.
What a year it’s been! Time has whizzed by since we took over the holiday cottages at Stonehayes Farm last year; it’s been frantic at times, but apart from the rare hiccup, we’ve enjoyed every minute of it. There’s something really nice about waiting for new guests to arrive, to welcoming them to our little corner of the world, and then hearing how they’ve loved it so much and how content they were throughout their stay. Happy guests means good reviews!
Of course, there were the name changes for the cottages; we were a bit worried about that – were we doing the right thing? We took our time to pick something that we thought reflected the lovely location out in the lanes of East Devon, the countryside and so on, and we settled on Siskins Nook, Dippers Rest, Wagtail Corner and Pipits Retreat – all birds we’ve seen in these parts, and do you know what? We needn’t have worried – the new names caught on well and everyone got used to them in no time.
We also had the excitement of getting Pippinsands, the original farmhouse, ready to let out for holidays and long weekends in Devon – quite a task, but we got there and the result is a beautiful big thatched cottage that sleeps 14 people and has a huge garden with a hot tub and amazing views out over the Otter Valley. Needless to say, it’s full almost constantly!
Now that the holiday cottages at Stonehayes Farm are decorated for Christmas, they look even more lovely than usual, and we’re looking forward to welcoming guests in for Christmas and the New Year. We get booked up for the festive season months in advance so if you’re thinking of getting away to a Devon holiday cottage for Christmas 2020, don’t leave it too late. In fact, whatever time of year you’re thinking of taking a holiday, whether it’s during February half term, the Easter holidays, the summer months or in the autumn, you’d be wise to book sooner rather than later, as more and more people seem to be holidaying on home soil.
Well, whenever you want to come, we can’t wait to meet you. But for now, a very Merry Christmas from Stonehayes Farm to you and yours. X
