With Christmas now behind us and 2020 well underway we just wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year from Stonehayes Farm. This is one of our busiest times for taking bookings and we are so excited about welcoming guests old and new to our gorgeous Devon holiday cottages, whatever time of year you want to come and enjoy a slice of country life amongst the peace and tranquility of the beautiful East Devon countryside.
Our dog friendly holiday cottages are perfect anytime of year for holidays and short breaks alike; wood-burners to keep you warm and cosy in the colder months, French doors to open wide when it’s warm, and a well equipped games room for year round amusement. We’re lucky here because we have 15 acres of glorious private land for you to explore, with a fantastic play area for the little ones, riverside walks, and plenty of quiet spots for a picnic in the fresh air.
Come for a winter break after the busy Christmas period, a chance to completely unwind and recharge any flagging batteries, putting you in fine fettle to get back into work mode and the rhythm of everyday life. Stonehayes Farm is a wonderful base for walking holidays whether you want to explore the Blackdown Hills AONB or the South West Coast Path and the beautiful beaches of the Jurassic Coast. Come for February half term, for the Easter holidays or Whitsun week and you’ll find family attractions where you can have a jolly good day out, like Wildwood Escot, Axe Valley Wildlife Park, The Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth, and Crealy Theme Park & Resort.
There are some good towns to browse within easy reach; Honiton is just over a mile away and Taunton is within easy reach, as is Exeter – visit the cathedral, take a tour of the Underground Passages beneath the city streets, go and meet Gerald the Giraffe at the RAM Museum, reach dizzy heights at Clip ‘n’ Climb, try paddle boarding or kayaking on the canal and Exe estuary, or grab yourselves a load of retail therapy at Princesshay.
Book a week in the summer at one of our Devon holiday cottages and spend lazy days on the beach, take a trip along the coast with Stuartline cruises, go out to sea mackerel fishing, get close up to marine life at Lyme Regis Aquarium, hunt for fossils or have a spuddle about in the rockpools. Head down to Tiverton for a leisurely ride along the Great Western Canal on one of the few remaining horse drawn barges in the country and have cream tea in the canalside tea gardens afterwards, see the splendour of Knightshayes Court and Killerton House, the quirkiness of A La Ronde and the subterranean beauty of Beer Quarry Caves. There’s heaps to see and do in these parts!
Be sure to book early for these busier times to avoid disappointment; Christmas and New Year in particular get booked up quickly and oh, the thought of being snucked away in a lovely little farm cottage in Devon for the festive season is such a nice one! Our current guests are loving it, loving it! Our family friendly holiday cottages sleep 4-14 people and you can book as many as you like; if you’re a couple of families with young children Whinchat Barns will suit you well as these two adjoining cottages sleep a total of 11 and there’s room for you to all eat together. If there’s a big group of you looking for a very special place to celebrate something significant like a big birthday or anniversary, take a look at Pippinsands, the original farmhouse, which sleeps 14 and has its own hot tub.
Settle down by the fire, put your feet up and have a good look at our Devon holiday cottages at Stonehayes Farm; most of our guests fall in love with it here and they come back every year to enjoy a stay in this beautiful part of the West Country. We know you’ll love it too! Book your stay today and head into the new year looking forward to a holiday at Stonehayes Farm.
