Mason’s Arms, Branscombe, Devon
The Mason’s Arms stands on the hill that rolls gently down to the sea in Branscombe, a picturesque village on the World Heritage Site Jurassic Coast in Devon. Have a walk along the South West Coast Path and then head back for lunch in this charming 14th century pub. Inside is all the character you’d expect from a building of that age – bumpy old whitewashed walls, low beamed ceilings, exposed timbers and on colder days, a roaring log fire to keep you warm and toasty. In the summer it’s nice to sit outside in the garden and watch the comings and goings, folk skipping down to the beach, or strolling back up.
Food is excellent at the Mason’s Arms; seasonal pub classics with a modern twist, sharing boards and a lot of fresh fish – all ingredients are sourced locally of course. So, on the mains are dishes like Locally sourced steamed mussels, Confit of duck leg, Pan fried supreme of hake, and 6oz hand pressed burger. At lunchtime you can have a Hand picked Devon crab sandwich, a Beetroot falafel wrap, Pork pie Ploughman’s or Steak frites.
