Outstanding countryside living
Stonehayes Farm is a 14th century Grade II listed thatched Devon longhouse in a peaceful ‘time-gone-by’ corner of the Blackdown Hills. The farm offers five traditional barns, all recently converted to superior quality and family-friendly holiday cottages and maintained to a very high standard. All five have been awarded ‘Enjoy England’ four or five star Gold Awards.
5 Luxury Cottages in Beautiful Devon Countryside
The cottages all retain traditional Devon farm features such as the oak beams and quirky windows while offering a clean contemporary and comfortable finish housing every modern convenience. Each cottage has its own garden with BBQ and garden furniture with views over open countryside.
A Holiday To Remember
Our aim is to make your stay at Stonehayes completely relaxing, enjoyable and memorable – even if you choose never to leave the farm. We measure our ability to achieve this by the number of guests who choose to regularly return to Stonehayes every year. We take pride in the little extra touches that help to make your holiday special. Our welcome pack, for example, includes free-range produce such as eggs from our own chickens which you or your children can top up during the week by joining in one of the daily egg collections. Guests have access to 17 acres of lawns and meadows leading down to the small meandering River Luv where secluded picnic places have been built along the tree-lined riverbank.
Stonehayes’s five Cottages are The Linhay (sleeping 6), Shippen (5-7), Granary (5-7), Cider House (4-6) and Grandads (2). Bed linen, towels, central heating, electricity and welcome packs are all included in the price. Four of the cottages have log burning stoves (logs provided) to make winter breaks warm and cosy. Each cottage has a dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, electric oven/hob, micro wave (3 of the cottages also have wine coolers), TV/DVDs and leather sofas. For families with babies and toddlers we can provide high chairs, travel cots, stair gates and other baby equipment – all within the price. Just request details when booking.
Our games room is equipped with a pool table, table tennis, dartboard and more. There are outdoor games too, plus a popular riverside campfire and BBQ. For younger children there’s a Playhouse near the cottages and, for the older ones, a riverside play den.
Covered Parking is available at Stonehayes – with additional overflow space available if required.
A Countryside and Seaside Holiday
Stonehayes Farm is surrounded by beautiful green rolling hills and bluebell-filled beech woods on the edge of Combe Raleigh, just perfect for walkers. It lies 2 miles north of the quaint market town of Honiton where, twice a week, the centuries old tradition of holding the market in the main street is still practised. A visit, taking in the market, the town’s many antique shops and an ice cream topped with a ‘girt dollop’ of clotted cream is highly recommended.
Being within a 5-minute drive of the A303 and a 20-minute drive of the M5 makes Stonehayes reassuringly easy to reach when driving down from ‘up country’. It is also the ideal base from which to discover the seaside resorts and countryside of East Devon, West Dorset and Somerset. If you are looking for a seaside holiday, you can choose a different beach for every day of the week without going too far afield. The small seaside towns and villages of Beer, Branscombe, Lyme Regis, Seaton, Sidmouth, Ladram Bay, Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth are only a short drive away. There are also many golf courses in the surrounding area to suit all abilities as well as many family attractions.
“What a fantastic place! Easily the best self-catering cottage we have stayed in – a real home from home. Ella’s first words on arrival were Can we stay here forever?”
