Axe Cliff Golf Course, Axmouth, Seaton, Devon
The setting for Axe Cliff Golf Course is undeniably spectacular – it’s on the UNESCO World Heritage Site Jurassic Coast near Seaton, with spectacular views over Lyme Bay, so if you find yourself a little distracted from your game, don’t worry, you’re not the first.
The course is par 70, at just under 6,000 yards, and presents a good mix of short and tricky and long and scenic play, with challenges for all skill levels. The first six holes are a bit of a walk but after that the course flattens out with some excellent finishing holes as you drop down the cliff side - the final hole is said to be one of the best par 3s in the country. There’s buggy hire and a shop on site and visitors are welcome at the Clubhouse where they serve decent home cooked food.
