Make like a giant as you stroll around the 4-acre Lilliputian world at Babbacombe Model Village, set in a scenic valley with scenes of Britain through the ages with fun and humour for all ages. Complete with sound and animation the miniature marvels cover just about everything from the adorable Victorian snowy village to Stonehenge, and a celebrity mansion to modern day London. Adults will love the nostalgia of six decades of England before their eyes, children will have fun spotting all the hidden characters and detail of the scenes.
What’s amazing is that there are more than 400 models of houses, stately homes, factories, shops and entertainment venues, covering so many different styles of architecture from medieval through to Tudor and Victorian – and it’s all made by hand! There are well-known monuments and landmarks, a model railway that loops around the middle of the gardens, countless street scenes, even a fire breathing dragon, and an incredible13,000+ miniature people who live in the village.
The award-winning gardens make a very nice backdrop for a picnic, with the lovely sea air and wonderful views. If it rains, the fun can continue in the 3 indoor areas where you can see that snowy Victorian village changing from day to night – so cosy! Check out the world of Gulliver’s Travels, the European Tiny Towns, The Mythical Kingdom with lighting and sound effects, and the LittleEnders soap set. There is so much to amuse you!
If you didn’t bring a picnic and your tummies start to rumble, head to the coffee shop where they serve hot and cold drinks, paninis, snack and cakes. Play a round on the 9 hole crazy golf course and before you leave stop off at the gift shop for a souvenir of your trip. A seriously good day out and well worth the drive from your Devon holiday cottage at Stonehayes Farm.
