Coldharbour Farm Shop, Ottery St Mary, Devon

We firmly believe in eating local when you're on your holibobs, so when you're staying at your Devon holiday cottage at Stonehayes Farm you should pootle over to Coldharbour Farm Shop just a mile up the hill from Ottery St Mary town centre. This place is packed full of goodies that are grown, raised or produced locally, a lot of it right here on the farm - all manner of meat, veg, fruit, free range eggs, pies and pastries baked on site, pickles and jams, and so on. They also do a nice line in cards and gifts so go have a good browse.

But first of all, when you get there, find a table in the cafe where the food is good and honest and you can have a hearty cooked breakfast, a light lunch, or a seriously scrumptious slice of cake. They even do Sunday roasts and what you can bet on is that all ingredients come from the fields nearby. Oh yes, that fork to field ethic is BIG here - for example, if you have sausages and salad, the sausages will be made with meat from animals that were raised here at Coldharbour Farm and the salad will have been grown in the polytunnels just a few minutes from the door.

We like that, we like it a lot.
