Colyton, Devon
The best way to get to Colyton is by tram from Seaton because that way you get to ride along the wetlands of the Axe estuary; alight at the station and go and have a refreshing cup of tea in the Tramstop Café, then wander into town, have a pootle round the little winding streets, pop in the church and have a nose in the shops – there aren’t many at all but you know, when in Rome.
What’s nice is to have a stroll along the river when you head back to the station, big open fields ahead, those soft Devon hills rolling in the distance. Just along the coast are Beer and Branscombe, a few miles away is Wiscombe Park where they hold challenging hill climbs and a fabulous vintage rally.
