Dinosaurland Fossil Museum, Lyme Regis, Dorset
Take the kids to Dinosaurland Fossil Museum when you visit Lyme Regis and they’ll be delighted. This place is SO fascinating – with over 12,000 fossils under one roof, including an enormous Ichthyosaur, real Chinese Dinosaurs, Russian trilobites and 73kg lump of dinosaur dung! The ground floor houses the huge collection of fossils found along the beaches of the Jurassic Coast, upstairs there’s a highly interesting geological timeline laid out, and a corker of a Natural History Room with shells, skeletons and taxidermy.
Dinosaurland Fossil Museum is an absolute must for any budding paleontologist; it’ll keep them talking for days. Make sure they’ve got their pocket money because with the incredible amount of fossils and crystals on offer in the shop they are bound to find something they’ve just got to have.
To boot, the museum is tucked away down a side street in a beautiful period building, away from the hustle and bustle of the town and the seafront.
