Honiton Golf Club, Honiton, Devon
Established in 1896, Honiton Golf Club may be set on a hill but don’t let that trick you into thinking this is a particularly challenging course; it’s actually relatively level and offers a relaxing game on an 18 hole easy walking parkland course at par 69, 5,910 yards. Perhaps quite a distraction are the spectacular views over Honiton and the Blackdown Hills. Practice facilities are good, with a field, putting green and nets; buggy hire is available and there is a well stocked Pro shop.
Visitors are welcome provided the etiquette and dress codes are followed as per the website. That welcome extends to the Clubhouse where the lounge bar and dining room overlook the 18th hole, and where wholesome homemade food is served from 9.00am most days. On Sundays it gets busier which is testament to how good the roast is.
