Pecorama, Beer, Devon

You should go to Beer when you’re down this way on your holidays in Devon, and if you’ve got the young ‘uns with you, or even if you just like trains, you should go to Pecorama because that’s where the Beer Heights Light Railway is and it’s actually all rather fun.

There’s a brilliant model railway exhibition to see, and you can have a ride on the miniature steam train as it pootles through the 8 acre landscaped gardens, all very pretty with wonderful views of the countryside and the sea. There are outdoor and indoor play areas, a zip wire, crazy golf, a Garden Trail and a Nature Trail and a Crawlie Hall Bug Hotel, so plenty to see and do. When you’re feeling peckish, if you haven’t brought a picnic, there’s a café and a kiosk, or for the over 12s only, The Orion Pullman Carriage Café.

If you’ve got your own model railway in the making, pop along to the shop and buy something to add to it; you never know what you might find.
