Rockfish, Brixham, Devon
Set in a striking building in the world-famous fish market where you can see the fishing boats come in with their catch, Rockfish Brixham is one of the most popular places to eat in this Devon coastal town. Talk about fresh – that sea to plate ethos doesn’t get much quicker than this!
So, you can sit inside or out on the terrace where you’ll get a better view of the action from their own boat and other small local fishing boats. They serve tapas (Chargrilled Padron peppers, Green Olives from Seville, Pickled anchovy fillets) and Rockfish Tinned Seafood that they preserve themselves, eaten from the tin with crusty bread and pickles (Lyme Bay Mussels, Brixham Cuttlefish, Mount’s Bay sardines), as well as starters like Salt & Pepper Brixham Calamari, Firecracker prawn cocktail and Crisp fried tempura vegetables.
On the mains to tempt you are, among others, Chargrilled sea bream with Greek Island salad, Large line caught haddock, Grilled Brixham cuttlefish, and Rockfish tacos. There’s a Children’s Menu too, and for those with a sweet tooth, desserts like Artisan Italian gelato, Knickerbocker Glory and Affogato.
The terrace has a waterproof cover and outdoor heaters, so it’s got to be the best place to eat, unless it’s blowing a hoolie. Stunning waterfront views, fresh sea air and fantastic seafood – what a combo!
