Taunton, Somerset
Taunton is Somerset’s county town and it’s a very nice one! It’s not too big, not too small – just the right size with plenty to see and do. The town centre has a good mix of big names and quirky independent shops to keep any shopaholic happy; pokey about and explore the side streets where there's a different kind of feel – like St James Street, Riverside Place and historic Bath Place. You’ll find a range of good places to eat too, like Brazz, Augustus, The Bank Kitchen & Bar and The Ring of Bells.
Go and browse the Museum of Somerset and find out about more about the county; see the beautiful Roman mosaic discovered beneath a local field, the cave bear skull found in the Mendip Hills, and the giant’s shoe. Wander up to Vivary Park for a picnic, play on the high ropes or have a game of mini golf at Vivary Golf & Adventure Centre. On the outskirts of town you can catch the latest big movie, go tenpin bowling and find more places to eat. It’s easy to while away a whole day or an evening out in Taunton, so plan it well and fit in as much as you can!
