Tea and Tittle Tattle, Budleigh Salterton, Devon

Tea and Tittle Tattle in Budleigh Salterton on the Devon coast is an award winning, family run, vintage style tea shop where they serve breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. They pride themselves on using as much local produce as possible and they are fully licensed so you can enjoy a nice glass of wine or a beer with your food, which is nice – after all, life is to be enjoyed.

What we like about Tea and Tittle Tattle is that it’s big on vintage charm with lace tablecloths, china cups and saucers and tiered cake stands. It’s just the sort of place where you can go all dressed up 40’s style and make believe the world isn’t the crazy place it’s turned out to be; it’s so relaxed here with a spirit of yesteryear.

Food is all homemade on the premises, service is gentle and smiley; at lunchtime you can fill your belly with the likes of Greendale farm roast leg of pork, Vegetarian nut roast, Warm smoked mackerel salad and new potatoes, and Salmon & dill fishcakes. Go later on in the day and you can have an elegant High Tea of dainty sandwiches, freshly baked scones, delicious cakes, and a pot of tea to wash it all down. Or make it more of an occasion and opt for a cheeky glass of Prosecco!

Children are welcome as long as they’re well behaved and don’t run around all over the place causing havoc; if you’ve got tinies with you bear in mind that there’s not a lot of room for pushchairs so you’ll have to leave them outside or fold them up.
