The Anchor Inn, Sidmouth, Devon
In the town centre in Sidmouth, the family owned Anchor Inn has been in the same hands for over 20 years, serving food and drink all day every day. Sit inside, out in the beer garden in the sunshine, or at the front of the pub where you can watch the world go by.
Dishes on the lunch menu are available all day, or you can have anything on the lunch menu from 12-6. So how about a hand-picked Lyme Bay crab sandwich with homemade coleslaw, crisps and mixed leaf salad, freshly battered cod fillet with chips, peas and salad, Homemade steak, mushroom and ale pie with your choice of potatoes and seasonal veg? There are smaller plates, lighter options (Pan fried tiger prawns, Homemade fishcakes of the day, Welsh rarebit) and salads (Lyme Bay crab & prawn, Rump steak, Warm chicken & smoked bacon); steaks from the grill are Devon reared and matured for 28 days, there’s an excellent Chef’s burger, and not forgetting the vegetarians and vegans, there are temptations like Quinoa & beetroot burger, Seasonal roasted vegetable tartlet, and Vegan cauliflower & red pepper curry.
Dogs are welcome in the beer garden and out the front, but not inside.
