If the idea of a big portion of pub food with plenty of local produce appeals, you might like to call in to The Cannon Inn at Newton Poppleford after a walk along the banks of the River Otter, or when you need a stop off point when you’re out and about exploring in Devon. You can tuck into the likes of Ham, egg and chips, Steak and ale pie, Aubergine and mozzarella lasagne or a Doorstopper sandwich (Cheese and chutney, Roast beef and horseradish, Ham and mustard or Prawn cocktail). Wash it down with a pint of guest local ale and if it’s a nice sunny day sit out in the garden and soak up the rays.
The Cannon Inn changed hands in spring 2021 and the new owners are working hard to bring back all the traditions of a village pub with a warm welcome and big smiles for locals and visitors alike, and even extended to our four legged friends. They’re certainly going about it the right way because reviews are good.
