The Clock Tower, Sidmouth, Devon
The Clock Tower is a very charming tea room set within Connaught Gardens in Sidmouth, right at the top of Jacob’s Ladder Beach, so it’s a good one for when you’ve been rockpooling, paddling or building sandcastles and find yourselves in need of refreshments. It’s a lovely place and you won’t be disappointed; the same family have run The Clock Tower for over 30 years and what they focus on is serving good food that’s made using quality local ingredients and made with passion and love. Jams and chutneys are made on site in the kitchen as are all the pies, quiches, cakes and gateaux.
They open from 10.00am daily, weather permitting and have a varied menu with sandwiches, baguettes, pasties, sausage rolls, pies, quiches, fish and chips, burgers, scampi and even vegan house sausages – that’s the other thing, they’re happy to cater for all diets. When the sun has got his hat on it’s a real joy to sit out in the peaceful walled garden with stunning views of the Jurassic Coast.
