The Feathers Hotel, Budleigh Salterton, Devon
The Feathers Hotel is a traditional pub on the High Street in Budleigh Salterton. New owners took over in January 2025 and they’re putting their heart and soul into making this a place where everyone feels warmly welcomed. The front of the building has had a fresh coat of paint, and inside, they’ve got it all going on, with a pool table, darts, and skittle alley, Sports TV for those very important big matches, live music and karaoke. Outside there’s a beer garden which is quite a suntrap for the warmer days.
The food is hearty home cooked fare with a main menu of pub food and something nice for the veggies – like Beetroot & Butternut Wellington, and Mediterranean Vegetable Tart. There are chef’s specials too, with temptations such as Wild boar & pork sausages in a Yorkshire pudding with roasties, savoy and swede mash and caramelised red onion gravy, Roasted fillet of salmon with a sweet chilli glaze, baby potatoes and green beans, and Crab linguine topped with pan fried monkfish. Go on Sunday for a proper job roast dinner, there are smaller plates if you don’t want a big bellyful, and there’s a menu for the younger folk.
Sometimes all you need are friendly places with smiley faces – Then Feathers Hotel is one of them.
