The Galley Restaurant, Topsham, Exeter, Devon
The daily changing menu at The Galley Restaurant in Topsham showcases the very best of what’s been freshly caught, grown and reared in the local area, with a big focus on seasonal and sustainable. Fish and seafood is a speciality, hand picked from the day boats that come in each morning at Brixham on the South Devon coast; mussels and cockles are from the Exe estuary just a few miles away. Vegetables are grown on local farms, meat is raised and grazed in the lush pastures nearby, more unusual ingredients are foraged in the woods and hedgerows. Wine is carefully selected to complement the food.
To give you an idea, for lunch or dinner you could start with Brixham crab tart with curry, mango and monks beard, or Cured mackerel with cucumber, wasabi and sea herbs; follow with mains of Pan roasted hake, with black olive, tomato, Fregola and Nduja sauce, or Deep fried line caught haddock with triple cooked chips and condiments, then round it off with Strawberry & elderflower trifle or Buttermilk panna cotta.
This is relaxed dining with attentive and friendly service; the quayside setting gives wonderful views over the River Exe.
