The Pig at Combe, Gittisham, Honiton, Devon

The setting for The Pig at Combe is an absolute delight – a beautiful Elizabethan manor standing in gorgeous grounds in the spectacular countryside of the Otter Valley just a few miles from Honiton. What you won’t find is manor house stuffiness; instead you’re greeted by eclectic interiors of relaxed dining rooms and cosy sitting rooms with heaps of original features and quirky touches.

Dine in the Restaurant where they work to a 25 Mile Menu and place a huge focus on Kitchen Garden Produce – yep, all freshly picked from their own walled gardens. Food is simple, fresh and flavoursome with mains including Organic Texel lamb leg with pease pudding and garden kalettes, Line caught ‘Sula’ pollock with braised celery, garden chard and crab sauce, and Foraged ‘Three Corner’ leek & ricotta gnocchi with Devon Blue and walnuts.

Tucked away in the garden there’s a rustic Folly – the most tasteful derelict chic imaginable - think stripped back walls, reclaimed furniture, a log burner, and huge floor to ceiling windows where the natural light slips in gracefully. The feels are relaxed and casual and it’s dog friendly, great for dropping in during the day (book for the evening) for a drink or chargrilled flatbreads with a choice of toppings.

Groups can book a room for private dining; The Georgian Kitchen seats 10-14 and is the original Elizabethan kitchen of the house, The Cellar is the original wine vaults and seats 6-8, or you can book the Folly to seat 15-24 guests on two long tables.
