The River Exe Café, Exmouth, Devon
Go for lunch or dinner aboard the award winning River Exe Café at Exmouth and boy, you’re in for a treat. The setting is incredible – the café stands on a custom built barge that floats off shore on the River Exe estuary; the only way to get here is by water taxi, or if you’re lucky enough to have one, your own boat.
What you get is a fantastic and unique dining experience; calm waters, brilliant river views, and amazing food. Ingredients are all sourced locally with fish featuring big of course, coming in fresh every morning from the men who fish the waters of the Devon coast. It’s all put to tantalisingly good use in the dishes they serve, with mains like Whole Brixham cracked crab, Darts farm Beefburger, Smoked rofu Ramen and seafood sharing platters. There’s a Specials menu that changes every day according to the catch, and there’s an Oysters menu and a Mussel Bar - Classic moules mariniere, Scrumpy Cider and smoked bacon, Carribean coconut curry.
