The Yellow Deli, Honiton, Devon

You won’t find anywhere else like The Yellow Deli in Honiton; it’s quirky and unique and run by a group of very friendly people who work very hard here and on their base at Stentwood Farm up in the hills where they bake their own bread and have an honesty café. Interiors are warm and cosy with intimate booths and everything fashioned from reclaimed wood; bushel baskets used to harvest apples have been repurposed as lamps, walls are decorated with hand painted murals showing scenes of rural life and local scenery. There’s a very rustic homespun feel so it’s like these people are inviting you into their world to spend a little time in relaxed surroundings enjoying the delicious food they serve.

You really should try the hot steamed sandwiches because you won’t get them anywhere else; they’re made in the in-house bakery using specially designed steamers that make cheese melt, meat hot and bread taste like it’s fresh out of the oven. Have a fresh and colourful salad, a homemade pie, soup or chilli with cornbread muffins, rounded off with a real fruit smoothie, a Chai Matte latte, rootbeer or traditional tea and coffee. The thing is, when you go to The Yellow Deli, it’s not just about grabbing something to eat, it’s a wonderfully wholesome experience and the vibes are so good.
