Bishopswood, Chard, Somerset

Like most of the villages in the Blackdown Hills, Bishopswood has a peaceful and timeless air, and is surrounded by softly rolling Somerset countryside. The main street winds its way up the hill past centuries old cottages and more modern houses, past the former Candlelight Inn, which sadly closed in recent times. At the bottom of the village the River Yarty flows beneath the bridge where there are walks leading to well manged nature reserves; at the top of the hill are Bishopswood Meadows where you can spot an interesting variety of flora and fauna amongst what used to be working lime kilns and an old quarry.
