If gardens are your thing you really must go to Burrow Farm Gardens at Dalwood when you’re staying at your holiday cottage in Devon; what one woman has created here is incredible and what’s charming is that it feels like you’ve discovered something quite secret, though you won’t be able to keep quiet about it because it’s gorgeous.
The gardens cover 13 acres and what’s particularly beautiful is that it’s all so well thought out that there’s constant colour throughout the year. There are sweeping lawns, a rose garden, an azalea glade, a wildlife meadow, and a woodland garden, all with the backdrop of spectacular countryside in the Axe Valley. Amble around, stop and stare, enjoy a moment’s mindfulness here and there, and then go and treat yourself to a cream tea or a light lunch in the Tea Rooms.
Burrow Farm Gardens is the kind of place where you’ll be happy to linger, you can’t help it, and no doubt you’ll go home with your head full of ideas and inspiration for your own little patch of the world.
