Chris’s Café, Axmouth, Seaton, Devon

Chris’s Café is on the way to Axmouth harbour beach, so if you’re strolling out that way when you’re on your family holidays in Devon, pop in and put paid to any hunger pangs. It’s a good honest, down to earth place, is what it is, and the food is yummy. They serve cooked breakfasts, tea and cake, and feature specials like Beef casserole, and Hot roast pork baps with stuffing, apple sauce and gravy, with the crackling done to perfection. They like to use local produce so meat and eggs come from nearby farms.

But Chris’s Café isn’t very big, and it’s also quite popular, so you may not find a table, in which case a takeout will have to suffice. That’s fine though, carry it carefully, out to the estuary where you can find a seat and enjoy it with a view of the calm waters of the River Axe; birds bobbing about, kayaks and little boats passing by. Lovely.
