Exeter Redcoat Guided Tours, Exeter, Devon
Exeter Redcoat Guided Tours are a great way to discover one of England’s oldest and loveliest cities. There are several to choose from, most of them starting from Cathedral Green, except the Historic Quayside Tour which starts from The Custom House down on the Quay.
Knowledgeable guides will take you around Exeter to tucked away corners past and present, revealing the history, giving you an insight into what it was like to live in the city in days gone by. See the remains of the Roman city walls, roll back to Medieval and Tudor times, learn about the house that moved, visit the churches and burial grounds, including the Victorian catacombs. Stroll along the quayside, hearing about the fascinating history of the once busy port of Exeter and the ship canal that was the first to be built in Britain since Roman times.
Tours run all through the year and are free, but note that, although it rarely happens, they can be subject to cancellation without much notice. If there’s more than 15 of you make a group booking by emailing guidedtours@exeter.gov.uk.
