Go Ape Haldon Forest Park, Kennford, Exeter, Devon

Swing through the trees and make like a monkey at Go Ape Haldon Forest, just a 15 minute drive from Exeter in Devon. There are two courses of tree top challenges for families, groups of friends and corporate team building days, set in the 3,500 acre Haldon Forest Park with incredible views that stretch across to Dartmoor.

The Treetop Challenge takes 2-3 hours to complete and is not for the faint hearted or anyone with the slightest fear of heights – although you could see this as a way to overcome that. The highest platform is 14m, the longest zip wire is 230m and there are obstacles like the Button Bridge and the Log Balance. The Treetop Adventure is best for families with younger children, although they must be over 1m tall. You’ll have an amazing time negotiating the treetop crossings and whizzing through the forest on the freefall Tarzan swing and 73m zip ride.

Stay and play in the forest and make a day of it – there are tracks and trails to follow on foot, by bike or on Segways, there are play areas, an onsite café and picnic benches. Plan it well, pack the sandwiches, sausage rolls, hard boiled eggs and fizzy pop.

Open: Throughout the year, but usually closed in December for maintenance.
