Haldon Forest Park, Kennford, Exeter, Devon
Spend the day outdoors soaking up fresh air and adventure at Haldon Forest Park, only 15 minutes from Exeter in Devon. With 3,500 acres to explore, owned and maintained by The Forestry Commission you can expect beautiful scenery and amazing views across to Dartmoor.
Lace up your boots and set off on one of the walking trails, go as far as you like, head deep into the forest and feel the stillness; if you’re quiet enough you might spot some of the creatures who live there – a squirrel leaping from branch to branch, the white flash of deer scuts as they bound off through the trees. Go mountain biking over the varied terrain, or explore over 10 miles of designated riding trails on horseback and feel the wind in your hair on the quarter of a mile gallop. If you prefer a more sedate pace, have a gentle amble on the Butterfly Trail, ticking off the species that you see in the sun dappled glades along the way.
Within the park is Go Ape where two exhilarating treetop challenges await you – great for families, groups of friends and corporate team building days.
Haldon Forest Park has car parks, which are charged, an onsite café, play areas and picnic benches. Plan it well, make a day of it.
