Harry May Deep Sea and Mackerel Fishing Trips run from the harbour at Lyme Regis every day throughout the summer; and what a great thing to do when you’re spending time on the Jurassic Coast – out on the open sea catching your supper. Harry May has two custom built boats – Marie F and Sunbeam; both seat 10 passengers, dogs are welcome and there’s usually room for a pushchair. You can even charter a boat for yourselves if there’s a bigger group of you staying at our Devon holiday cottages – a great idea for a birthday treat or just because.
Mackerel fishing trips are one hour long, deep sea fishing trips are three hours and are spent angling for the likes of whiting, dogfish, bream, even skate and conger eel; all the gear is provided and if you’re a complete novice, don’t worry because Harry will show you what to do and how to reel in your catch. He’ll even gut it and fillet it for you, so all you have to do is take it home and cook it – or even better, barbecue it fresh on the beach when you get back to shore.
