Oh what a lovely place to be! Heron Farm is set in a small village just off the A30 near Honiton; the backdrop is the beautiful East Devon countryside; with a vineyard, orchard, kitchen garden, award winning café and farm shop, as well as a play area and fairy garden, we know you’ll want to linger.
The white wine, rose and sparkling wine produced at Heron Farm has won awards it’s that good. If you want to find out more about it join a Vineyard Tour; they run from April to October and include a tasting session. Larger groups can book a private tour for up to 10 people.
The light and airy café is open for breakfast, lunch, and all day brunch at weekends; freshly baked cakes and cocktails are always available and there’s a menu for children. Lots of ingredients come from the walled kitchen garden, otherwise they’re sourced from the West Country. If you’re not that hungry just have a snack, maybe Mixed olives or Roasted chickpea and mint hummus with bread and Heron Farm pickles; if you’re after a bellyful, tuck into the likes of Wild mushroom risotto, Cider battered hake or Honey and mustard glazed ham with a duck egg, chips and sage salt. Sit inside or out on the terrace where in the summer bees gently buzz about the herbs and the scent of lavender hangs softly in the air.
What’s great about Heron Farm is that the whole family can while away a few hours here; have breakfast or lunch together, then go for a stroll round, let the kids loose in the play area and through the secret door to the fairy garden where sheep happily graze. Just enjoy being here in the fresh air.
Bring a basket and fill it with local produce in the farm shop, find a little souvenir of your visit in the gift shop. Keep an eye on the website for the latest news because there are events held at Heron Farm throughout the year – there’s a Winter Market, A Pumpkin Trail and even a Comedy Night. But do come, do visit, because there’s something very special about this place.
