Lulworth Heritage Centre, Lulworth, Wareham, Dorset

If you go to Lulworth Cove when you’re on your group holidays in the West Country, it’s well worth stopping off at Lulworth Heritage Centre to spend the time finding out how this unique and beautiful area was formed.

The displays are fascinating, taking you through geological timelines covering millions of years; it tells you how the cove, Lulworth Crumple and Stair Hole were formed and how coastal erosion continues to shape the landscape. You can see footage of how severe a storm can be here which helps you to understand the very force of nature and how it’s easily possible that one day, Stair Hole will be another cove right next to the existing one.

You can also read about the local history and the types of flora and fauna to be found at Lulworth. The Heritage Centre and it’s small souvenir shop is open every day from 10am-6pm in the summer and 10am-4pm in the winter.
