Payhembury, Honiton, Devon
Payhembury has a remarkable community spirit with plenty going on for villagers and visitors to get involved in, after all, how many villages these days have a Sailing and Boating Group, a Tennis Club and a Short Mat Bowls Club? Then there are the regular events like coffee mornings, a youth club and a Spring Bulb and Flower Show; it’s a lovely slice of country life in Devon with the setting to match – old thatched cottages, a village green, a charming church and the backdrop of the Blackdown Hills AONB.
A big part of the village is The Six Bells Inn where everyone is made to feel very welcome. Go for good homemade food after a walk around the parish, or just go anyway because it’s got a great reputation.
