The Greyhound Country Inn, Fenny Bridges, Honiton, Devon
From the outside, The Greyhound Country Inn at Fenny Bridges, just a few miles from Honiton, looks all pretty and inviting – a lovely old thatched longhouse, adorned with flowering baskets and window boxes as long as the year will allow. Inside it’s a similar story – friendly and welcoming, and relaxed. In other words, everything a traditional country pub ought to be, including the centuries old oak beams and the log fires when it’s cold out. It’s a good one for when you fancy a pub lunch on your large family holiday in Devon, especially if you’re planning a trip to Wildwood Devon or adventures at Devon Activity Centre – both are less than 2 miles away.
The menu changes every two weeks, with all food available to eat in or taken away. At lunchtimes there are sandwiches and wraps, and on the mains are dishes like Lamb, liver & bacon, Shortcrust pie of the day, Cider battered fish & chips, and Grilled gammon steak – the kind of things you’d expect to find on a pub food menu. There are also daily specials with a creative flair - to give you an idea, Wild Mushroom linguine, Pan fried fillet of hake with crushed new potatoes, cauliflower puree, samphire, white wine & lobster Sauce, and Pork tenderloin with breaded belly, honey braised cheek, smoked garlic mashed potato, baby carrots, fine beans & cider cream sauce.
There’s an outdoor patio, bar and dining area for the warmer days, and a play area for the little ones. Dogs are welcome in the bar.
