The Harbour Inn, Lyme Regis, Dorset

The Harbour Inn is a popular pub and seafood restaurant on the beachfront at Lyme Regis with views over the historic Cobb and Lyme Bay. The family who run it only use locally sourced, freshly caught fish and seafood, mostly from the waters of the Jurassic Coast. The restaurant is air conditioned, which can be welcome in the heat of summer, but if you prefer a sea breeze you can sit out on the veranda or the private beach.

If you’re stopping by for lunch the menu should impress, with dishes like the Harbour Inn Shellfish Cocktail, with crab, lobster and prawns drizzled with Chimchurri mayonaise, or Smoked Applewood, Beetroot and Potato Fritter with an Oriental Salad and Fig Jam - delicious! The dinner menu has some very tempting mains, including the Harbour Inn bouillabaisse, which is a mix of local and Cornish fish and shellfish in a tomato and basil sauce, served with rosemary focaccia bread. If you don’t fancy seafood, the Slow roasted duck leg with fondant roast potatoes, vegetables and a sweet orange and gin sauce sounds good.

The Sunday Lunch menu has something for everyone; if you fancy a traditional Sunday roast, you can choose from Devon beef or duck. Seafood-wise, there’s a fish pie or classic fish and chips, and there’s a dish of the day for vegetarians. If the younger folk aren’t used to this kind of thing, they can have something from the children’s menu.

The Harbour Inn is dog friendly, so you can take your furry friends as long as they are kept on a lean. It’s a good idea to book, especially in the summer, otherwise there might not be room for you.
