The Ostler Inn, Uffculme, Cullompton, Devon

The Ostler Inn is now the only pub left in the quiet village of Uffculme in the Blackdown Hills, but it’s been standing since 1741 and looks set to remain in place for several more hundred years. It’s all very traditional with a warm welcome extended to all; there are no pretensions, it’s just a good honest village pub, just how it ought to be really. Go and watch the latest big match, have a game of pool, select your favourite tunes on the juke box. If the sun has got his hat on sit out in the garden beneath the parasols, in the evening make sure you’re near one of the outdoor heated lamps or bring an extra sweater.

At weekends they have a street food menu, which looks good. Start off with Tangy & spicy jalapeno and feta flatbread or a Homemade Scotch egg and move on to Jerk chicken, Panko crumbed clamari, BBQ ribs or an Ostler burger. For dessert try the Decadent South African Malva Pudding; which sounds good.
