The Ship Inn, Axmouth, Seaton, Devon
The Ship Inn is a family run pub and restaurant set on the main street through the ancient village of Axmouth. If you’re going to be passing through on your way to the Axe estuary or the beach at Seaton when you’re staying nearby in one of our Devon holiday cottages, you should make a point of stopping here for lunch or dinner because the food is excellent.
There’s plenty on the menu to tempt you and the good news is it’s all made using fresh local produce – fish comes in daily from Lyme Bay, crabs are landed on the beach at Beer, meat is all free range, raised and grazed nearby and vegetables are grown on Devon soil. The style is British classics, with mains like Homemade steak & kidney pie, Slow roasted belly pork and the Ship Inn’s fish pie. From the Grill there’s a choice of steaks, a Foot long chilli dog and a Homemade beefburger; the summer months brings the Black Rock Grill Experience for 28 day aged steaks with a choice of sauces and salads. There’s a great selection of local beers and guest ales, the atmosphere is warm and friendly and the service is spot on.
At the back of the pub there’s a large beer garden overlooking the River Axe – it’s a lovely place to sit on a summers evening for a wonderful holiday vibe and fantastic sunsets.
