The Strawberry Tree, Lyme Regis, Dorset
The Strawberry Tree is tucked away in the corner of the cobbled courtyard at Town Mill in Lyme Regis. At the heart of this tapas restaurant and cookery school is a big love of sharing good food with friends and family, so the service comes with plenty of smiles and the food is alive with the flavours of southern Spain; the atmosphere is happy and welcoming.
Have a browse of the gallery and artisan shops at Town Mill the pop into The Strawberry Tree for coffee and cake, or if it’s lunchtime you might be tempted by a few of the delights on the short tapas menu – to give you an idea, Moroccan chickpeas, homemade labneh, roast garlic, mint, and smoked pimenton oil, Pan Fried fresh chorizo sausage with sweet sherry, and Canaries-style potatoes with a spicy garlicky mojo rojo sauce. In the evenings there’s a longer menu, including things like Quails eggs, Croquetas, Crispy aubergine with black sugar cane syrup, and Iberico cured ham. If it’s one of those warm summer evenings, sit out in the Garden Bar and sip a cocktail or a glass of Spanish wine; when the sun goes down the twinkly lights come on and it’s such a good place to be.
