Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life, Tiverton, Devon

Soak up a whole lot of local history at Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life. There are plenty of objects and artefacts for you to see, among them are household items and toys from the pre-war era, lace making tools, farm wagons and the star of the show, the great GWR steam engine known as ‘the Tivvy Bumper’. Find out all about Tiverton’s main attraction – the Grand Western Canal, get on down to the basin for a stroll along the towpath or a ride on a horsedrawn barge.

The best fun will be had at the different dressing up stations around the museum – for children and adults! There are trails and quizzes to do as you wander around, and Explorer Backpacks that you can borrow to help younger children explore the museum. Your entry ticket is valid for the whole day, so you can go in and out as you please; take that walk down to the canal, like we said, go for a cream tea at the Canal Tearooms & Gardens. A lovely interactive day out for the whole family.
