So…. We have some VERY exciting news to share! New at Stonehayes Farm from May 2024 will be Julesbrook, a gorgeous and welcoming holiday cottage that sleeps 16 with a hot tub. This means there will be more changes to our family friendly and pet friendly Devon holiday cottages but what stays the same is the beautiful setting, the tranquillity and the constant birdsong…
Julesbrook, our new holiday cottage that sleeps 16 with a hot tub will be a very special place to stay for big family holidays and celebrations, or for days away with friends and their children. There are 7 bedrooms (2 on the ground floor), a games room, movie room/living room and a huge garden with a private hot tub and a play area for the little ones. Guests also have access to the 15 acre grounds here at Stonehayes Farm; think wide open fields and enormous skies – think riverside picnics and woodland walks. Life is a dream here, so far away from the push and shove.
We felt that bringing Julesbrook to Stonehayes Farm was the right thing to do because it offers what a lot of guests seem to be looking for right now – large group holiday accommodation with great facilities and something for all ages. Pippinsands, our beautiful thatched farmhouse that sleeps 14 is very much in demand, but we’ve noticed a slow down in bookings for the smaller cottages in recent years, which seems to be a national trend. Maybe the pandemic taught us the importance of friends and family, how spending quality time together is what matters, and a large group holiday in the Devon countryside is a brilliant way to do that.
To get here, we’ve had to make some big decisions. We will be saying goodbye to Pipits Retreat, Wagtail Corner and Dippers Rest from February 2024, because all three of these lovely cottages will be transformed into Julesbrook – one big holiday cottage for 16. We appreciate that’s very sad for those of you who have enjoyed happy holidays here in those three cottages, and we’re so sorry. But we hope that you’ll come back with family and friends for a magical group stay at Julesbrook; it’s always good to see familiar faces again.
Julesbrook works so well for multi-generational stays and for a group of friends and their children spending time away together. The way the bedrooms are laid out means that families can have their own space, but downstairs there’s plenty of room for you all to gather for fun and laughter. The open plan aspect works well too, so you can wander through from the games room to the movie room, the dining room and the kitchen. Oh, that kitchen! It’s enormous, so no need to worry about elbow room whether you’re self-catering or getting private chefs in to cook you a celebration feast. And it’s got everything you need to take away any stresses of cooking for 16 people; the dining table seats you all and sets the scene perfectly for big breakfasts, lavish lunches and delectable dinners.
And oh! How such a gentle air pervades at Julesbrook, all those lovely feels. You’ll be so at ease; this is time to put your feet up, to let any worries slip away and idle the hours away with the people you love most in the world. The rustic charm remains, after all, once upon a time, Julesbrook was apple stores and haylofts on a busy working farm. So there are thick stone walls, centuries old timbers and quirky little windows here and there. It’s a lovely backdrop to the modern interiors we’ve chosen; the look is uncluttered but comforting, and so calm. The bedrooms all have zip and link beds (super king or twin) and there’s room for cots.
And just imagine. Those warm summer days in the garden, kids happy as larks on the play equipment, sausages sizzling on the barbecue, birds chirruping from the treetops, and time to slip into the hot tub for a soak beneath speedwell blue skies. Ah, that’s what it’s all about! Life is to be enjoyed; come and enjoy a little of it here at Julesbrook with your darlings ❤️
