Stonehayes Farm - Reviews For Our Devon Holiday Cottages

If there’s one thing that makes us all really happy here at Stonehayes Farm it’s reading the reviews for our Devon holiday cottages. It means the world to us when we know that people love staying here, and of course it’s important to our future guests, so we thought we’d share with you some of the wonderful comments from our feedback.

The beautiful countryside at the Blackdown Hills

We love getting together with a cup of coffee and reading the reviews for our Devon holiday cottages here at Stonehayes Farm. Finding out how much our guests have enjoyed their stay here puts extra big smiles on our faces, especially when they say they want to come back. We like to think of it as a little slice of heaven in Devon - cosy cottages full of centuries old rustic character, beautiful countryside right on the doorstep, incredible views that reach for miles across the Otter Valley, and peace and quiet.

Family friendly and dog friendly, Stonehayes Farm is a great place to stay any time of year. Even if it’s raining you can snuggle up in front of the wood-burner and watch a movie together, bake a cake or play board games. You can head to the games room for a game of pool or table tennis, or you can be big and brave and wrap up warm and get out there facing the elements! You know what we say – there’s no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing!

Most of our guests give a score of 10/10 for our holiday cottages in Devon, which is guaranteed to get us doing a happy dance! We can honestly say that we’ve never had a genuine bad - perhaps a slight whinge, but then, some people are born whingers, aren't they? And anyhow, you can’t please all the people all of the time. We've had cases where guests have let us down and left things in a mess, and whilst it's part and parcel of this type of business, there are times when we've had to withhold a deposit or ask for compensation; unfortunately, that's when people tend to get nasty and seek their revenge by leaving bad reviews. What matters is that the really good reviews far outstrip any poor ones. Our attitude is that any ‘issues’ are addressed immediately because our guests MUST have the happiest stay ever – it’s compulsory. Happiness is requisite at Stonehayes Farm! We want to see our guests’ big happy smiles, we want to hear their laughter!

So, let’s tell you about those reviews, all recent ones, starting off with Pippinsands, the big one, the former farmhouse that sleeps 14 and has its own hot tub in the garden:

10/10 It was a wonderful space for 14. Our group ranged from age 6 to 80 and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay. There is enough space to never feel on top of each other but also not loose each other. The downstairs bedroom and breakaway space was perfect for older family members who might want to avoid the stairs or step away and find some quiet space from all the group fun. We also made great use of the snug. The lounge is a fantastic size for everyone to get a comfy seat/sofa and the log burner and inglenook made it still feel cosy (even though this is a big room). The Kitchen and dining space was a fab space to socialise and we had wonderful time preparing and eating meals together. Hot tub and games room were the icing on the cake. What a special house this is.

10/10 The property was modern, clean and owner went to every effort to make it perfect for us. Will definitely be visiting again! Thank you. Lovely walks from the property and easy access to the coast.

10/10 Although a very historic character farmhouse, it was lovely and light inside, and comfortably warm. Hot tub a real treat, and panoramic vistas are a delight. Philippa, her family, and team, were wonderfully friendly with a warm reception and goodbye. Very willing to help at anytime if a need arose. Visted the beaches and seafronts of Charmouth, Seaton, Branscombe, Beer, Sidmouth, Budleigh, and Exmouth. Bicton Gardens, the Donkey Sanctuary, There are many attractive villages, walks, and pubs, so lots to do.

10/10 It was all fab and all 18 of us had an amazing time celebrating a 40th birthday. Thank you for everything and we appreciated the cakes , tea , coffee and milk. A stunning place to stay… Stayed in for the weekend as there was so much on offer at Stonehayes.

And for Siskins Nook, the little one, that sleeps 4

10/10 Phillipa Sam and Roger are great hosts and run a fantastic set of holiday homes. Set in beautiful countryside the cottages have been converted to a very high standard. If there was ever something that needed sorting it was never too much trouble and was dealt with quickly and professionally. We’ve been twice already and will definitely go again. Woolacombe beach - absolutely brilliant beach for family fun. Sidmouth and Lyme Regis both lovely places for day trips.

10/10 Very cosy, warm and comfortable property with everything you need for a luxury stay. The owner went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Thank you! Great local walks and easy access fo the coast.

10/10 We were a party of 18 assorted ages 2-73yrs and Stonehayes for perfect for each and everyone of us . So much space to explore with cosy options for those quiet moments. Best place ever!! We stayed in Stonehayes all weekend enjoying all it had to offer.

And the others – Dippers Rest, Wagtail Corner and Pipits Retreat:

10/10 The cottage was stunning and immaculate, equipped with all the essentials from dishwasher tablets to tea bags. The hosts were very hospitable and provided us with excellent recommendations. The photographs do not do it justice, and we would highly recommend it. The hot tub was especially enjoyable! The walk from the cottage to the top of the hill was great. (Dippers Rest)

10/10 Wagtail cottage was lovely, very well presented. Lovely building, clean and comfortable, quiet and relaxing. Great welcome from the owner and really easy to find out way around and settle in. South coast is very easy reach, with a car it's so easy to hop from place to place, beach to beach. Lyme Regis is a good starting point. (Wagtail Corner)

10/10 The barn was very spacious. Lovely and warm. Very well equipped. Spotlessly clean. Beautiful views. (Pipits Retreat)

Very shortly we’ll be closing the doors on these 3 cottages and converting them to one luxury large group holiday house that sleeps 16, has a hot tub and games room. It will be called Julesbrook and we look forward to guests making happy memories there from May this year.

Stonehayes Farm is an ideal place to stay for holidays and short breaks for large family holidays and peaceful celebrations with your favourite people. There are so many fantastic places to visit nearby, including the beautiful beaches on the Jurassic Coast, and excellent pubs and restaurants if you fancy going out to eat. Like we say, a slice of heaven in Devon. Come on down, find your happy; we can’t wait to meet you ❤️.
