Cottages To Rent For Walking Holidays in Devon
Our cottages to rent for walking holidays in Devon are so homely and welcoming; if you're planning a break with a larger group, check out Pippinsands, which sleeps 14, or Julesbrook, which has snooze space for 16. If you're a small group of 4, Siskins Nook will suit you perfectly. Right from the doorstep you’ll find a network of narrow winding lanes, bridleways and footpaths taking you through the spectacular landscape of the Blackdown Hills in East Devon. Climb to the top of one of the vantage points for breathtaking views that stretch on and on for miles across unspoilt countryside; plan a walk to take in Hembury Fort or Culmstock Beacon and you’ll see what we mean! Just up the lane from Stonehayes Farm is Dumpdon Hill, the swathes of bluebells in spring are a feast for the eyes, the beech woods in autumn are beautiful, and on a summers evening, when the sun starts to slowly sink below the horizon, there's no better place to be.
Just a few miles away you can join the South West Coast Path, taking in the quaint fishing villages, sandy beaches and sheltered coves. Stroll from Beer to Branscombe, stop off for a sandwich or a cream tea at The Sea Shanty Beach Cafe, amble on up the cliff to Littlecombe Shoot, a tiny tucked-away bay accessed by a path that zigzags its way down to the beach. See the towering red sandstone cliffs at Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton, stop for a swim around the stacks at Ladram Bay. Make a day if it and head over to Exmoor, hike across the moors where wild ponies graze, venture along lush river valleys and up through steeply wooded combes.
So off you go, on your merry way; take a picnic lunch or plan a stop at one of the many tea rooms, cafes or country pubs. When you get back to your Devon holiday cottage, unwind with a game of pool, slip into the hot tub for a soak beneath the stars; all that fresh air will make you sleep well, so the comfiest beds await you. Drift off to owls hooting, the moon peeping in at the window. Lace up your boots! Book your walking holiday in Devon today!
