We still have some availability at our large holiday cottages for spring 2025 with a hot tub, but not a lot, so if you’re tempted, you’ll have to be quick. And why wouldn’t you be tempted, especially when you can save up to £550 on your stay!
Easter is such a lovely time of year to be at Stonehayes Farm; spring has arrived and the days are getting longer and warmer, the birds are chirruping as they go about their nest building, and flowers are popping up everywhere. It’s one of our favourite times of year! We came down to the farm with the children at the weekend and went spotting flowers; we saw celandines, primroses, periwinkles, violets, stitchwort, and of course, daffodils nodding their heads. It won’t be long before the bluebells are out beneath the beech trees at Dumpdon Hill just up behind our Devon holiday cottages – one of the best spots for watching the sunset, with far reaching views across the Otter Valley.
We even saw a few early butterflies, and a couple of big fat queen bees out looking for a new home, and down in the field the lambs were frolicking about. It was even warm enough to go for a paddle in the stream! Happy days!
The thing is, it’s like a different world here at Stonehayes Farm, one that seems a million miles away from all the hustle and bustle of city life. It’s so peaceful, so fresh and clear, and out here in the lanes, there’s barely any traffic noise. Maybe the occasional car going up the lane, or a tractor chugging along, but that’s it. Saying that, Honiton, the nearest town is less than 2 miles away, just off the A30, so it’s so easy to get here.
There’s a lot to see and do in this neck of the woods, which is a big plus for the school holidays. We love Heron Farm where there’s a fairy garden and play area for the kids, and a farm shop for the grown-ups; Wildwood Devon and Bicton Park Botanical Gardens are high on our list too, and The Donkey Sanctuary near Sidmouth, and Pecorama at Beer. All brilliant places for a family outing.
And then there are the beaches. We are very fortunate to be so close to the beautiful Jurassic Coast – so close that it’s easy to go to a different beach every day. Sidmouth has sand and rockpools at low tide, Exmouth is great for sandcastles and water sports, and Lyme Regis has plenty going on with fossil hunts, boat trips, rib rides, a Marine Aquarium, a fascinating Town Museum, and Dinosaurland Fossil Museum.
So, those Special Offers. Let’s take a look. Pippinsands, sleeping 14, has availability from the 7th and 21st April; if you come for a midweek stay you’ll save up to £550 – working out at less than £25 per person per night! You’ll have a big private garden to play in, your own hot tub, a play area, and use of the shared games room and 15 acres of private grounds to explore.
Julesbrook sleeps 16 and has a games room and play area, and a huge private garden with a hot tub. Again, you can use the shared games room if you wish, and you can wander the private grounds. The cottage is available from Monday the 7th April for 4 nights with £200 off, working out at around £44 per person per night.
What usually happens with late availability this time of year is that it gets closer to the school holidays, the weather warms up, the sun comes out, and suddenly, our luxury Devon holiday cottages are fully booked. So our tip is not to dither, book while you can and start planning – days out, trips to the seaside, a pub lunch, walks with the dog… Happy days, memories to treasure.
