Cottages In Devon For February Half Term

The first school holiday of 2023 is coming up and what better way to enjoy family time than staying at our cottages in Devon for February half term breaks. It might be a bit chilly out there but you can wrap up warm and enjoy walks in the beautiful countryside of the Otter Valley and strolls along the beaches of the Jurassic Coast. Come and make happy memories!

At Stonehayes Farm we have a great choice of cosy cottages in Devon for February half term breaks; we have cottages with hot tubs, a shared games room and 15 acres of glorious countryside to explore at your leisure. Our dog friendly holiday cottages sleep 4-14 guests and you can book as many as you like, so it’s the perfect place to stay whether you’re a small family or a bigger group. How about rounding up close family or your friends and their children – the more the merrier!

Stonehayes Farm is child friendly

A stay at Stonehayes Farm is such an escape, tucked away in the winding lanes not far from Honiton and easily reached from the M5, A30 and A303. You’ll notice how things become quieter as you near your journey’s end and once you’re here you’ll have peace and tranquility; all around is the spectacular countryside of the Otter Valley and the Blackdown Hills.  You can hunker down in your Devon holiday cottage snug as bugs, play games, indulge in a craft session, and watch movies together by the fire. Wander out to the games room to play pool, table tennis or table football; we’ve even made sure the tiny tots will be happy, with a stash of games and toys.

Play table tennis on a rainy day

It might still be cold outside but get wrapped up in thick coats, hats and scarves and gloves and go for a wander in the grounds at Stonehayes Farm. You’ll soon warm up! Wander down across the fields to the riverside, explore the woodlands looking out for wildlife; you might spot squirrels scurrying through the trees, birds flitting to and fro in the hedgerows, and foxes stalking across the open fields. Wild violets will be popping up, little snowdrops will be nodding their heads and there might even be early primroses – it’s all so wonderful!

If you want to venture out to discover what’s about in the local area take a look at our Things To Do Page and you’ll find inspiration for places to eat and to visit, good walks and activities you can all join in. Just down the road is Otter Valley Ice Cream & Field Kitchen where you can stop for breakfast or lunch and if you’re brave enough in February – a scrumptious ice cream made with milk from the cows you can see in the fields just outside. Go to Honiton Pottery Workshop and try your hand at being a potter or painting a mug or a plate. At The Thelma Hulbert Gallery there are half term workshops you can all enjoy.

Great food in Honiton, near Stonehayes Farm

Take the little ones to Heron Farm a few miles from town – they’ll love the playpark, the fairy garden and the sheep. A little further at Wildwood Escot they can spot the animals who live there, including lynx, wolves, wildcats and red squirrels; there are activities, daily talks and feeds, and something you don’t see very often, a Saxon Village. The Donkey Sanctuary near Sidmouth is good too (and it’s free to get in!); go and say hello to all the happy donks who live there, then stop at the play area and the café, making the most of your visit. Have a browse around Lyme Regis where you can visit Dinosaurland Fossil Museum and the Marine Aquarium.
